1 Solar power

One of the most common and feasible renewable energy sources for airports is solar power. Solar panels can be installed on rooftops, parking lots, or unused land to generate electricity for the airport's own use or to feed into the grid. Solar power can reduce the airport's dependence on fossil fuels, lower its greenhouse gas emissions, and save on energy costs. Some examples of airports that have adopted solar power are Cochin International Airport in India, which is the world's first fully solar-powered airport, Denver International Airport in the US, which has four solar arrays that provide 10% of its electricity needs, and Adelaide Airport in Australia, which has a 1.17 MW solar system that covers 10% of its peak demand.

Solar power can be a feasible option for powering An Airport. An international airport can easily adopt 5-8 MW solar plants integrated into airport design. It is really important to look at the solar potential map of that area before installing it to understand feasibility and requirements. The buffer areas or water bodies can be used for solar farms near airport and even terminal buildings roofs can be utilized for solar panels.
