What are some of the most innovative use cases of blockchain technology that you have seen or worked on?

In my experience, Blockchain and IoT can therefore provide continuity in information sharing, helping companies reduce operational risk, ensuring continuous, reliable and invulnerable global flows. That is, they add value to supply chain, because they increase capacity to control and verify flows from suppliers, enable reliable and shared tracking system, distributed and certified with significant benefits to consumer - which, for example, can make sure that their goods are transported in proper conditions and time, verify origin of goods and trace the whole manufacturing process in blockchain, verify and prove authenticity and origin of goods through IoT devices, etc.-.

In my experience, it was the improvement of smart contracts that enabled the emergence of Decentralized Finance (Defi). Smart contracts provide mechanisms to efficiently manage assets, tokens, and access rights between two or more parties. Imagine an encrypted box that unlocks value or access rights if and when certain pre-established conditions are met. Such values and access rights are stored on a blockchain that protects them from deletion, tampering and fraud. However, that the term 'smart contracts' itself is a bit unfortunate. Not every smart contract is a “legal” smart contract. Smart contracts are software codes with self-executing rules. And not all provisions of law can be expressed with computational logic

An example of an escrow-based DeFi application: Alice needs a loan and her lender Bob provides it with the condition that she places another asset in an escrow account that Bob can claim if Alice cannot repay - a kind of loan guaranteed. In this case, funds can be released by the smart contract under one of two conditions: 1) if Alice fails to repay the loan after a certain period, Bob can claim Alice's asset; 2) if Alice repays the loan before the period expires, Alice can redeem her asset from the escrow account. The event or condition that “unlocks” the funds, in traditional finance, is generally governed by a centralized, trusted intermediary such as a bank and is therefore subject to high fees and transfer friction.
