1 The Bullitt Center

The Bullitt Center in Seattle, Washington, is one of the greenest buildings in the world. It is the first commercial building to achieve the Living Building Challenge, a rigorous certification that requires net-zero energy, water, and waste, as well as meeting high standards of health, beauty, and equity. The Bullitt Center also achieved LEED Platinum certification, with a score of 105 out of 110 possible points. The six-story building features a rooftop solar array that produces more energy than it consumes, a rainwater harvesting system that supplies all the water needs, a composting toilet system that eliminates sewage, and a natural ventilation system that regulates the indoor temperature and air quality. The Bullitt Center also promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for its occupants, with a central staircase, bike storage, showers, and access to public transit and green spaces.

The Link project in Masdar city is a LEED Platinum building with targeted points of 85. This enhances the Energy by almost 50% and reduction in water by 45%. It is a net zero building where the Building is producing more energy by solar than the consumption of the building. I am proud to work on this project as a 'Sustainability Champion' to demonstrate the practical application of LEED rating system inside a massive development where the building is rated with WELL Gold, Estidama 4 pearl and Net Zero certification by ILFI.

2 The Tower at PNC Plaza

The Tower at PNC Plaza in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is the headquarters of PNC Financial Services Group, one of the largest banks in the United States. The 33-story building achieved LEED Platinum certification, with a score of 89 out of 110 possible points. The Tower at PNC Plaza is designed to be a "breathing" building, with a double-skin facade that allows natural ventilation and daylighting, and a solar chimney that creates a stack effect to draw air through the building. One of the iconic projects I worked so far is Red Sea hospitality project where we developed world class hotels with LEED platinum V4.1 certification. It was having around 40% reduction in energy and 50% savings in water. We used low GWP and OWP refrigerants for all the HVAC needs. Also, it was a challenging project as we need to work with around 15 sub contractors to make this into reality. To educate and maintain the status is front line task that I have carried out as a Sustainability Supervising consultant. We directly represent Red Sea for the sustainability requirements of the project.

There is Uptown Tower in DUBAI JLT Area which is 72 floor high rise building with LEED Gold certified. We tend to achieve Low emitting materials credit in this project by using Lowest VOC content which follows California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method v1.2–2017. The education to the suppliers are necessary through this initiative. My work is to supervise in the project and reach to the LEED Gold status which we have successfully delivered to DMCC - our client. It is paramount to note that we had 540 KW solar project which takes care of all of our office electricity needs. I was a Sustainability champion of the project where my primary responsibility to have sustainability initiatives in the project.

The Manitoba Hydro Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, is the headquarters of Manitoba Hydro, the provincial utility company that provides electricity and natural gas to the region. The 22-story building achieved LEED Platinum certification, with a score of 86 out of 110 possible points. The building is designed to be 60% more energy efficient than a conventional office building, through a combination of passive solar heating, natural ventilation, geothermal cooling, and daylighting. The building also features a three-story atrium that serves as a winter garden and a social hub, a rooftop garden that reduces heat island effect and provides a green amenity for employees, and a rainwater harvesting system that reduces potable water use by 90%. The Brock Environmental Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is the regional headquarters of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
