Frameworks and methodologies are rarely strictly implemented in their purest form and that's ok. The true definition of Agile is being agile, ie. try things out and learn from them. The most effective teams therefore end up implementing a combination of what works best for them from multiple methods.

Letting the team self-organize can do wonders. Offering some guidance and coaching can help but strictly imposing any framework can be counterproductive. Let the team be agile, let them find the best way to work.

One thing I've found helpful in software product management is the incorporation of "Loop" logic and working culture. It's a practice that encourages transparency in the work-in-progress (WIP), leading to greater collaboration among team members. It fosters an environment where work is discoverable, feedback loops are clear and context is always given when presenting work.

Adoption of framework, methodologies and innovation should be centered around The problem the product aims to solve. The frequency in which the initial product and product increment will be delivered. The planned capacity of resources. and the budget.

The latest trends suggest a shift towards Agile 2.0, emphasizing enhanced flexibility and efficiency. Companies are increasingly adopting a more tailored approach to Agile, customizing it to fit their unique organizational structures and project requirements. This evolution ensures a more seamless and adaptive project management process.

An example I've seen that enhances user-centered design is progressive disclosure. This is where information is presented in a manner that keeps updates high-level and precise, with only 1-3 bullet points per update. This practice is especially useful in maintaining stakeholder engagement, as it ensures updates are digestible and informative without overwhelming with excessive detail.

Continuous learning and attentive comprehension from product users contribute to the enhancement and development of products that cater to customer needs.

Our product roadmaps are no longer just a list of features; they are dynamic, customer-centric guides. We actively solicit customer feedback and incorporate it into our roadmap planning, ensuring our products evolve in alignment with user needs and preferences.

Embracing a culture that fosters open communication and transparency can greatly improve data-driven decision making. By communicating not just tasks and their completion status but also progress, level of confidence, and the underlying rationale, we can build a more comprehensive picture of the data influencing our decisions.

Companies that do not build their strategies around big data and end-to-end predictive analytics systems may still feel comfortable for a while, but in the long run, they are doomed.

Decisions on changing any aspect of the product should always be data driven that helps eliminate assumptions and bias. Anecdotal feedback and verbal inputs from users while important, can be subjective and doesn’t necessarily provide the full picture. Data driven decision making ensures that only the most important and impactful changes are made.

Data doesn't lie. In my practice, I always prioritize data-driven decisions. But when data is scarce, consultation with SMEs combined with my intuition gets the job done. Also, bad data is worse than no data - you don't want to chase a wrong signal.

As a Product Manager knowing when to leverage AI is an important skill. Take for example integrating Generative AI into LinkedIn feeds in the form of Collaborative Articles. How does this type of content impact the user experience? How can a user opt-out? Is the content produced insightful or comprised of broad generalisations and misconceptions? These are all important things to consider. Product Managers need to consider metrics and system goals. System and audience engagement might be one of those goals, and Collaborative Articles might create a short term increase in engagement, but what happens if it just becomes noise in medium to long term, and reduces engagement? Is all engagement the same? Does all engagement have the same quality?

It is essential to understand why you are planning to implement AI in your business processes. Are you following a trend, or do you have a clear understanding of the problems that AI implementation will solve for your business? If your motivation is "merely to stay in vogue" or because "others are doing it", without a clear understanding, it may not be necessary for you. Focus on improving key metrics and processes instead. However, if you have a clear understanding of how AI can enhance specific metrics or positively impact user experience, then these technologies may be valuable for you.

Apart for creating new features and functionalities, AI and Machine Learning can also play a significant role in fostering a healthy project management environment. For example, AI can be utilized in providing smarter recommendations for project adjustments based on historical data, leading to better project outcomes.

AI is no longer a futuristic concept, but it is now a practical tool transforming software product management. From predictive analytics to automated decision-making processes, AI is revolutionizing how we approach product development. Companies are leveraging AI to gain deeper insights into user behavior, predict market trends & optimize decision-making processes for faster & more informed outcomes.

Managing remote teams effectively involves establishing clear communication channels and promoting a shared communication layer. With a common language for all projects and consistent fields, we can streamline communication and ensure everyone is on the same page. Practices like asynchronous updates and having followers or watchers on projects can significantly improve visibility and understanding of progress. Async and well informed work is the way!
