As an electrical engineer with a passion for innovation, I find the integration of VR and AR in electrical safety training to be a game-changer. These technologies allow for a hands-on learning experience that is both safe and engaging, significantly improving the retention of safety protocols. Currently I use 3D and VR for teaching 4kv circuit breaker maintenance. HTC Vive platform and I’m exploring the Meta Quest 3 platform. Currently changing the coding to Meta platform. I’ve seen this class go from 3 weeks to 1 week in duration. And with student using both 3D and VR before hands on their proficiency is much improved! A 40 hour PM has been reduced to 16-20 hours! A significant ROI. Is it a game changer? Depends on how it it integrated into your training.

In most all my training I’ve incorporated Quizzlet. It’s a great tool to emphasize key concepts from your training. And it’s on their phone. I taught a level 1 thermography class and the students actually used it at home! You know it’s a win when they do that!!

I was just at an Expo where Proxxi had a wrist wearable that was extremely sensitive- adjustable. Definitely can incorporate this into my training. Working up the plan now.

I’ve used 7Taps in this realm. It’s a great tool to give targeted Just In Time training on a single concept at the point of use! QR codes have a great opportunity I’m exploring with various pieces of test equipment that is infrequently used. Imagine picking up a new O-Scope and there is a QR code on it that can be scanned by your phone to show you very quickly in a video on how to set it up. Priceless.
