It provides both tangible (ROI) and harder to measure results (such as increased employee engagement for example). An organization may assume that as expert trainers we share what we know and have learned. We share and the audience learns. This path may be similar to a one way street. Customers have explained to me, the trainer, that my purpose does not follow the path of expert delivers truth and others absorb. So I asked my clients, what it is I do! My purpose focuses on creating a safe place for all to learn, including me, and I create the “space” for real learning to occur. Safe place means any of us can make a mistake and learn from it without any injury. Space for all learners invites different styles of talking, expressions, experiences, and sharing. A purpose of all training is a safe place to error and learn and space for individual styles.

Let's be honest, no one can simply start with data and expect all to remember. Story telling is a great way to connect with your audience and position yourself, how does it help. Training works with psychology hand in hand... No matter what stage of life are you in.. Stories have never been outdated and we all love to listen, if positioned well with great tools like humor and voice modulation, with reflection gestures between the session, it works best.

While there a number a methods to showcase your training portfolio there is no better method regardless if it is in-house or an out of house organization than to allow others to showcase your work through word of mouth, surveys or break downs and diagrams of the course instructed, general thoughts, along with key take-always, what participants learned and test scores (if applicable) demonstrating the knowledge gained before and after a specific course. While a tiered or numbering system is fine people like to leave any course in a hurry so don’t always rely upon numbers on surveys, but rather the comments made.
