Training staff properly and communicating is key to managing hotel inventory correctly. The team needs to know how to read reports and look at technology in order to use it as a tool to manage bookings and detect issues with inventory, should they come up. Communicating is key to taking reservations because the staff has to be sure not to take additional bookings by phone or walk-in. This will cause inventory trouble or worsen the situation we are already in. Policies are key as well. Having a proper overbooking policy with walk letters and implementing that properly is key to the success of the team. Limiting stressful situations from being overbooked will help employee moral. Having a proper practice in place is key to managing inventory.
