You can't achieve anything without a set goal and exception in place. There should be a goal you as a mentor want to achieve and expectations you are expecting from your mentee. By clearly, stating and defining what you want to achieve, the mentee is able to understand what they are working with you on, the level of success expected and a sense of responsibility is placed on them.
