What are some effective ways to improve your public speaking skills as a supervisor?

Pide disculpas, relájate todos cometemos errores y sigue disfrutando. 4. Piensa que la gente tiene cosas más importantes que tú y tu charla. Que el 80% de las conferencias son del montón y que en ello no va tú vida. 5. Muéstrate cercano, empatiza con la gente, trata de conocerlos antes de la ponencia, emplea la sonrisa y confía en tí. Keeping in mind that when speaking to a group, whether large or small, there will be instances where adapting would come into play. Setting the tone with your voice and ensuring your thoughts and verbiage are conveyed in a sense that will obtain focus from your group. Be prepared as always and adjust where required.

Plan and practice your speech. Nothing beats being prepared. Even the most skilled speakers practice their speeches to some degree or another and that's why they're good at speaking in public. They've taken time to master the skill of speaking in public through years of rehearsal and practice.

In my experience, practicing with yourself is very important taking the time to speak alone when nobody is around, talking in front of a mirror, or recording yourself while you speak. Different things like that help and add to your journey and your confidence as a speaker.

Know the cultural grievances as well as passions of your audience. Never make the assumption that your audience shares your view point or are on the same page you are. They may not even be in the same book you are. Keep it simple, clear, consice, and sincere as you relax and engage your audience (subordinates).

If you can enroll in a Dale Carnegie course. Sometimes your company may even pay for such a course. It is well worth the time. It is a safe space for practicing speaking impromptu and learning other leadership skills.

Every time I've addressed my co-workers in a "Briefing", I have learned something new about myself and sometimes others. Being able to laugh at your mistakes in a public speaking setting takes lots of experience! Your audience appreciates (even when not spoken) your sincerity and ability to own your mistakes and loosens up the environment.

Let your experience do the talking for you. If you are experienced in something, there is a good chance you are passionate about it as well. Feel into that, focus on what you know. Your audience will pick up on that passion and they will focus on what you are saying. If you're not interested in what you are talking about, your audience won't be interested in what you have to say.

Be ‘brutal’ when editing the points you want to communicate and restrict the number of concepts to be considered by the audience in any segment of a minute of presentation. For example, consider the rapid speech used in some advertisements for automobiles and by sports colour commentary, e.g. hockey and basketball: the question for some viewers is ‘what was important in what was said?’ and if the answer isn’t obvious then the audience is probably not getting the message.
