What are some effective ways to follow up with a recruiter?

After an interview, it's really good to follow up with a recruiter by sending them a thank-you note. This is what I usually do. I write an email thanking them for their time. In this email, I mention something we talked about during the interview that I found interesting. This shows I was really listening and enjoyed our conversation. I also say again how much I want the job and how I think I'd be good at it. I keep the email short and make sure there are no spelling mistakes. Sending a thank-you note like this is a nice way to show the recruiter that you are really interested in the job and that you appreciate them for their time.

Thank you notes can be invaluable "second" impressions often forgotten. Like slipping a note into your first date's pocket to find later or sending a nice text after a great evening, thank you notes can be great ways to connect with interviewers and demonstrate stand-out qualities! Try using the following format: 1. Thanks for the opportunity... Thank them for even being considered; it is a privilege, and you should express that. 2. Connect with their needs ... Demonstrate Excitement ... Express how excited you are to come onboard potentially!

Dear [Hiring Manager’s Name], Thank you for taking the time to meet with me yesterday. It was great meeting you and learning more about [Company Name] and the [Job Title] position. I'm confident that my [Insert Top 3 Skills/Experience/Education] would allow me to thrive in this role. Please let me know if I can answer any additional questions. I am looking forward to hearing about the next steps. Extra Tips: 1. If they mentioned a need for a specific skill during the interview, include it in your thank you note. 2. Add any other key skills/experience you forgot to mention in the interview.

Following up with a recruiter effectively involves timely and professional communication. After an initial meeting or interview, send a thank-you email within 24 hours to express appreciation for their time and reiterate your interest in the position. If you haven't heard back within the timeframe they mentioned, send a polite follow-up email inquiring about the status of your application. Keep your message concise and positive, highlighting your enthusiasm for the role. If there's any new development in your professional life, like an additional certification or achievement, briefly mention it. Always maintain a courteous tone, and avoid sending too many follow-up messages, as this can be perceived as overly persistent.

Thank you note for the opportunity post interview and doing further research on the company if interested. Sell why you are keen and what you can bring to the role. The thank you and follow up emails and calls have definitely dropped off over the years. But it’s a brilliant way to stand out.

A "thank you" note/email really can go a long way, whether you're sending it to a recruiter or a hiring manager you interviewed with. I have even had several hiring managers throughout my career ask if candidates have sent "thank you" notes. And the candidates that hadn't weren't viewed as the best choice for the hiring manager any longer. It doesn't take long and you can have a template that you use every time - thank them for their time, mention something you two talked about to really show your attention to detail and express your interest in the role once again.

What are some effective ways to follow up with a recruiter? (1) Be civil and respectful when it comes to interacting with recruiters and other Talent Acquisition (TA) personnel. They're people trying to to do their job: finding quality talent for companies. They're your allies in your job-search journey. (2) Be clear in your request to your recruiter. ? "Hey! Got a job?" ? "Yo! What jobs do you think that I would be great at?" ? "Hello, [name!] I'm reaching out to you because I'm looking for [ROLE]. Are you recruiting for this role at this time?" (3) If they need resources from you - eg. a resume, etc. - make sure that you submit these to your recruiter in a timely manner. And make sure those are polished!

(BE COURTEOUS AND PERSISTENT) I've learned that as a salesperson, it takes 9-11 "touches" (communication messaging - be it email or LinkedIn or phone-calling, etc.) to get one's INITIAL attention. Why do I mention this? Your recruiters are working with multiple candidates simultaneously. You're going to need to be persistent in following up with recruiters at times.

Seeking feedback is always a good idea. Sometimes recruiters get bogged down with many candidates and they’re unable to provide feedback to all candidates. Asking for feedback makes you stand out and even if the position you interviewed for has rejected your application it will give you insight on where you went wrong so you can improve for your next interview. Additionally, not many people do this step so you will stand apart from the crowd and the recruiter will remember you if a similar position comes back around.

I think that one of the most powerful things is to not be afraid to reach out to a recruiter! I attended Lauren Surman's "LWL" liveshow, in which she was talking with Kevin Mulrane, the VP of Sales @ BioCentury. There was a segment when they talked about improving your cold-calling skills and doing outreach. Lauren gave out her cell-number, ON AIR, during the show. And Lo and Behold...
