Perhaps the same behavior may have different meanings in different societies. For example, performing an action may be considered moral and valuable in one culture, and performing the same action in another culture may be considered immoral and non-value. Therefore, in order to communicate with the people of any society, it is necessary to know the beliefs and cultures, even the subcultures of that society.

Be aware of cultural nuances, such as gift-giving customs, bowing etiquette, and dining manners. Showing sensitivity to these aspects can help bridge cultural gaps.

Active listening with questions to clarification your understanding of what was said or meant, can generally help with all relationships. Check in the beginning of the relationship if the individual would be comfortable with questions to check understanding of words.
