What are some of the different career paths and roles for database developers?

A database administrator (DBA) ensures the availability, security, performance, and integrity of the databases that support an organization. A DBA installs, configures, upgrades, backups, restores, monitors, troubleshoots, and implements policies and procedures for data access and usage. DBAs must define and test periodically the Organization's Disaster and Recovery Plan. A DBA must have a solid understanding of operational and database systems, such as relational, non-relational, or cloud-based. Finally, DBA must be updated with new features constantly created for Database Systems and new Database options arising to the market. Depending on the expected data shape for a new project, DBA can also help select the correct database technology.

DBAs are the people that when you think that everything is lost they can come save the day by performing a restore of the DB system to the last known good point. They are also the ones that can improve performance by tuning the databases by enabling partition and segmentation techniques. Additionally they hold the keys to access each of the DB schemas defined in their system and poses the knowledge and expertise to make suggestions regarding query's and/or DDL's to better address business needs.

DBAs are responsible for installing and configuring database management systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc. They set up the database environment, including defining user access and security settings. Monitor and optimize database performance. They analyze query performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure efficient data retrieval and manipulation. This includes setting up user authentication and authorization, encryption, and access control mechanisms to ensure that only authorized individuals can access the data.

DBAs assess new database technologies, tools, and features to determine their suitability for the organization's needs. They may recommend upgrades or migrations to newer database systems for improved performance, security, or scalability.

Designing and implementing databases in accordance to end users information needs and views. Monitor database performance, implementation & apply new patches & versions when required.

These tools and concepts are the basis for the entry, processing and availability of data that will be worked on within an organization. Currently, knowing ETL, Kafka, Python, SQL, NoSQL will become a differentiator for professionals when we are talking about mastery of topics as the market increasingly demands consolidation in the way of thinking about speed, volume, variety (Big Data)

Database developer has different types of responsibilities such as design, optimization, analysis data , validate data and so on. Also need some strong background of ETL tools for data cleaning and data transfer from source to target.

We have data as the smallest part of information and information as the smallest part of knowledge. By understanding where we have the information gathered in the form of data, it is possible to analyze business areas, processes, products and sales in a timeline. The evidence generated in the past and present provides data science professionals with the study of metrics and trend calculations, allowing them to analyze what may be valuable in the future. This process can map and help with decision-making for the next few years of an organization.

Database Developers, also called database programmers, are primarily responsible for creating and implementing computer databases. It is important for Database Developers to possess strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and problem-solving skills.

A database engineer is similar to a DBA, but in contrast focuses on a databases logical design instead of general installation and administration tasks. A Database Engineer often works with other developers in modeling a databases schema, creating data structures such as tables and indexes, and tuning the performance of queries. A Database Engineer may also branch out to programming logic that manages application data or in various NoSQL technologies.
