What are some creative ways to show your value when applying for a promotion?

One of the best ways I've found to identify strengths and achievements to support a promotion is to keep a weekly journal of accomplishments. My first professional role with IBM taught me this and I've leveraged it into 10 promotions over the past 24 years. The trick is to focus on 3 things: 1/ What are the goals of the business? 2/ What are the goals of your department/team? 3/ What do you do/have you done to support the business, your department, and team? By keeping a list of your accomplishments and how they help/helped move the team and business forward you can easily reference your wins to showcase exactly why you are someone worth investing in from the company's perspective. Do this weekly and get promoted more often.
