A fourth common source of conflict in strategic leadership contexts is resource scarcity, which occurs when there is a lack of sufficient or adequate resources, such as time, money, people, or information, to achieve the desired goals or outcomes. Resource scarcity can create competition, stress, or trade-offs among the leaders and their followers, peers, or stakeholders, as well as compromise the quality, efficiency, or effectiveness of the work. To prevent or resolve resource conflicts, strategic leaders need to assess and prioritize their resource needs and allocation, as well as collaborate and innovate to optimize the use of available resources.
