Good fit for the job means the candidate really understands what is expected for the role and has genuine interest about it. Any signs that convey confidence, preparedness and curiosity tell us the candidate know this is going to be his/her job. For example -Expressing ideas with a composed gesture and arm opened wide -Looking to your eyes -Smile and nod -Leaning forward to show curiosity and listening

Here are some cues to keep in mind during your next interview: -Maintain good eye contact -Sit up straight and lean slightly forward -Use natural and appropriate hand gestures -Nod and smile to show engagement and interest -Mirror the interviewer's body language to establish rapport. -Avoid fidgeting or slouching On the other hand, crossing your arms, avoiding eye contact, or frowning can indicate discomfort or a lack of engagement. Remember, body language is just one factor to consider during an interview. Your experience, qualifications, and responses to questions are equally important.

In my opinion, questions like this about one's body language, making good eye contact, etc. can screen out potentially great employees. Some people are just able to project positivity better than others, or they have had training and practice to project that way. Some people just get nervous-an interviewer can help with that by easing tension. Again, in my opinion, you don't want to automatically "screen out" people who don't meet all the positive checkmarks. Give people a chance-see their potential-see if they are someone who is willing to improve, and give their best effort. You don't want to automatically be positively biased to those who "have great interview skills." Use your best judgement in evaluating everyone.

After thousands of in-person interviews over a 48-year career with Recruiting as it focus, body/visual clues are NOT a reliable predictor of their own assessment of "fit" for a role. Some of the best-prepared are also the most nervous and won't convey their "fit", while others use perfect visuals/charm to mask/distract from lack of substance. An experienced/well-trained Recruiter/Interviewer will know/notice and give appropriate weight to displays of all the "tips" here and separate the genuine (from comfort with actual knowledge of themselves vis-a-vis the role/company) and behavior learned-for-interviews. These tips neglect that a great Recruiter will help the candidate BE/present their "regular" selves vs. an interview construct.

Any way you can demonstrate that through facial expressions, body language, and event verbally is helpful. Be authentic, though!

The theme here is to position your body as if it is open (sitting up straight, shoulders back, arms at your side or on the table, legs straight down - not splayed open) as opposed to closed (sitting hunched over with shoulders in, crossing your arms and legs). It takes a lot of experience to be in a place where you can focus on the interview and your responses while also mimicking your interviewer's gestures. If that's too much, just make sure you set yourself up well at the beginning and try to keep your body open.

In my experience, nailing body language is less about fancy moves and more about showing you're a natural fit. Sit tall, smile bright, and listen actively - lean in, nod, and ditch the fidgets. Show your passion with open gestures when you talk about the job, like painting your words in the air. And, subtly mirror the interviewer's posture - it builds a team vibe.

En mi experiencia realizando procesos de selección, me ha pasado que han habido personas que en la entrevista están sumamente inquietos, se mueven constantemente y miran el reloj. Inclusive he tenido que preguntarles si se sentían cómodos y necesitaban unos minutos para retomar la reunión. Recuerda que el entrevistador también se distrae y con esos comportamientos le restas interés en escuchar tus respuestas, por el contrario estás llevando al reclutador a un escenario en el que su atención estará puesta en identificar qué te sucede o qué necesitas. No desaproveches esta oportunidad de oro. Concéntrate y maneja tu lenguaje no verbal. éxitos en tu entrevista!

I’d avoid fidgeting, tapping your pen, quick and jerky movements, etc. – they all portray nervousness and apprehension. They can also distract the interviewer from your words and make you look bored or impatient. To avoid fidgeting, try to relax your body and breathe deeply. You can also use your hands to gesture while speaking to make your answers more engaging. Another issue is making yourself ‘small’. When we are stressed, we want to disappear. We may slouch, cross our arms and legs, or curl up into a ball. These actions make us look insecure or closed-off. keep your body language open and confident. Push your shoulders back, keep your chin up, and uncross your arms and legs.

Avoid negative cues like : -looking at your phone -fidgeting around - looking at your watch (you'll look uninterested and in a hurry to get somewhere else) - covering your face/especially mouth with hands

I would discourage anyone from bringing an open container into an interview then constantly sip or drink from that beverage container as that can raise a concern to the interviewer. Most understand nervousness, however, at the very minimum either bring water (which won’t stain or bring ants if spilled) and/or bring a resealable container. Generally, an open container can also give an impression of drinking something other than a daytime liquid. That said, there is nothing odd about a candidate bringing or accepting water (from the potential employer) into an interview in case their throat feels dry. In my opinion, as a courtesy, potential employers should offer water/coffee/tea at the start of an in-person interview.

Real life example: I was at a vending event for my crafts and my friend told me to "open my body language." I urged him to explain. He mentioned that having my hands in my pockets was sending the wrong message to potential buyers. I needed to open up and appear more approachable. Same goes for serious business and interviewing. Being "closed off" with your body language could send a negative message to the interviewer.

Ask great questions and pay close attention to the answers. As a candidate, you are interviewing the company just as they are interviewing you. Find out about the company culture by asking "how have you seen people here handle difficult conversations?" Learn about career development by asking "how many managers here were hired from within?" Make the best of your valuable time during the interview so you can make the best decision possible!

Dress smartly-- clothes ironed, shoes polished, hair kept neatly and very importantly, be on time. Ensure you've had enough sleep the night before. Avoid having breakfast two hours before an interview. When you're right in the head --comfortable and confident--, you're right physically.

Other part to be considered is the way we sit on chairs.Those candidates who sit on rotating chairs tend to go on relax mode and unknowingly starts rotating it and its natural . So one needs to pay attention there to put both the feet on the down arms of the chair to get hold of grip and not rotate .

Don't overdress, do your homework this will give you extra confidence, smile, don't interrupt the interviewer, listen carefully, make notes, don't cross your feet and arms, and make eye contact but do not stare too deliberately, this will make the interviewer feel uncomfortable. Try to use your hands and head while speaking and listening, for example, try nodding while the interviewer is talking and try to use your hands while speaking about you.
