Once this issue was addressed and the data was correctly understood from its origins, it led to increased efficiency across the entire data science pipeline. Data literacy is crucial for driving better outcomes for the entire organization.

In a project that my team worked on, we benchmaked the current AI model against a analytical one: the analytical model had a clear advantage because it generated the least false positives, which was the most impactful metric for that problem.

When I started my Data Science masters, my cousin, who is running a Tech company in the US told me, "learn all the basics, but also learn how to deploy that. Learn how to manage the data traffic. Learn how to prevent the whole system from crashing due to data overload". The data volume today is multiplying continuously. Real-time data management is a must in the Data Science community as the amount and type of the data we use for analysis is exceptional.

Parallel Processing is something important for stream lining data processing. In my FYP, I had to extract features from a live streaming audio and then extract features from it. Soft skills are very much essential, no matter which field one is working in. As a matter of fact, any skill can be acquired over time with practice, perseverance and will power. In specific to the field of Data Science, Critical thinking and analysis, interpretation, interpersonal skills are highly essential along with in-depth knowledge of the concepts and effective utility of tools to apply your knowledge. However remember that no one is born with skills and talent, it is all acquired over time, hence don't be worried about being left behind in any of the above mentioned skills, have the will power it takes to acquire them and be open to learning more. You would notice yourself yield results over time.

I’d say communication is one of the most important soft skills required for data science team. Maintaining a well established GitHub repository is necessary to keep the project flowing in the long run. Key things to note is the variables and file names, as it would soon be total chaos if a team fails to follow a uniform naming format.

To stay ahead of recent trends in Artificial Intelligence and the broader data space, it is essential for data teams to regularly update themselves on daily breakthroughs, innovations, and news. This field evolves so quickly that technology learned yesterday might become obsolete tomorrow. Regularly following these trends will enable teams to apply the latest approaches to business use cases. Before diving into applications of Generative AI, it’s beneficial for a team to follow a bottom-up approach for incremental learning in data science starting from NLP, machine learning, deep learning, in depth transformers knowledge etc Another important aspect is to ensure compliance within your company, as data is indeed a sensitive topic.

Considering all of the above, in my opinion, it is necessary to first learn all the necessary things, such as Python, Machine Learning and Data Science theory with the practice. Perhaps even some Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Spark or Kafka. And there is also one important architectural detail called the design of machine learning systems, which I find at the very top of the shelf. By following such a way that the system is fault-tolerant, reliable and scalable, we are building the best machine learning solution. So my advice is to take a closer look at system solutions and learn how to weigh their design decisions.

I would say all technical skills to process data would be useless if the team is not fully aware of the semantics of the data in the context of the organization operations
