Find a mentor by becoming one. There are lots of STEM programs and robotics held at schools. Many experienced mentors can be found volunteering for these programs. I find a common interest in serving a community to be a great start in growing mentorship relationships.

In my experience, people who deal with similar problems face similar challenges, and they are probably seeking the same type of guidance. Having said that, I would drive the choice of a mentor by looking at someone who has already been in a similar situation and was able to successfully overcome these challenges. Sometimes these people can also be identified by answering the question "Where do I want to land 5+ years from now with my work?" and probably someone we recognize as such is certainly a valuable source of inspiration for us and could potentially be someone who can guide us through our professional journey.
