You should try to understand how committed the management team are to quality; it'll be a much harder job and you'll have much less success if the management team aren't interested - in fact at some companies, just getting engagement from the management team can be an achievement in itself. You should also try to understand how independently other teams can be trusted to work and maintain their own processes without introducing non-conformities into your management system; you might end up supervising and double-checking the work of a lot of colleagues (although you might enjoy this aspect).

Understanding the interpersonal skills and roles in quality management. As a quality management you should have a very good communication skill among the staff and also have a skill in planning and in project management.

As a consultant, you'll need to be able to understand the situation at the company before even starting to allow you to quote/estimate adequately - this might be through discussions or a more formal scoping process. You and the client need to be clear what the client is expecting you to deliver and what the expected timeframe or deadline is.

Secondly, the organisation must support and empower to explore and take calculated risks while aiming for Quality outputs and outcomes Thirdly, the Quality Organisation is not unduly delegated down stream and the Management must exhibit a sense of commitment at the Top and Quality is Job No. 1. The Quality personnel must be encouraged by management and structure through Cross Functional Management and Open Door Policy for essential communication while focusing on to achieve Quality objectives on time and every time consistently Knowledge Management and Data Analysis must be a way of life
