I agree with most of this collaborative article. Very few points need clarification: 1- You mentioned solving generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization problems. We do not use the term "Utilization"; maybe you meant to say problems at manufacturing facilities 2- You mentioned power system engineers need a strong knowledge of computer programming skills. It is nice to have but not required. Computer programming skills play no significant role in this job, although it will enhance your reasoning and troubleshooting skills. I agree with this short and contundent article but not agree at it all. I can point at about 10% of gaps that we need to pay atention but in its totality I think the article is acceptable and able to make sense for readers. For example, when we read "To be successful in this field requires strong technical knowledge in electrical engineering and power system theory as well as computer programming skills", I agree with the first part of the afirmation (about electrical engineering and power system theory) but disagree with the last part about computer programming only because to be a good professional (engineer or operator) this kind of skill is not mandatory. Of course this expertise is very well regarded but not a sine qua non condition.

I disagree when we read that system operators are responsible for coordination of this kind of electrical systems. This is not one of them responsability, differently of the first two attributions mentioned. To coordinate these systems the engineer is the most closer to the coordinator role then the operator. And about NERC certification or simillar I think it's not mandatory. The capacitation here is enough and these certifications are desirable requirements.

Unlike power system engineers, most power system operators deal with instant actions and reactions with the grid control, and most are required to be NERC certified. The term operator is also a term utilized differently by different companies. In some companies, operators are required to be electrical engineers; in others, they accept non-degree personnel.
