On top of the existing role in the company, for large improvements initiative, it is quite efficient to appoint a process improvement facilitator. It is a consulting role to take by someone external who can provide advise for selecting adequate process improvement methodology and then drive the process improvements.

The next step is to evaluate the different process improvement methodologies that are available and suitable for the process. There are many methodologies to choose from, such as Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, Kaizen, Business Process Reengineering, or Design Thinking. Each methodology has its own principles, tools, techniques, and benefits, but also its own limitations, challenges, and risks. To evaluate the methodologies, you can use criteria such as the complexity of the problem, the level of innovation required, the amount of data and analysis needed, the time and budget constraints, and the compatibility with the organizational culture and strategy. Lean/Six sigma are useful for large improvemet initiatives but eeds consequent investments. Kaizen Is making continuous improvement successful. Improving process step by step and very low investment. In any case, let take the method that stakeholders are familiar. Sometime combine them taking into account the objectives of the improvements.

One of the major difficulty during improvement workshop is to ensure the commitment of the action holders. So many case tha the stakeholders search for an action holder outside the improvement team. This makes the workshop useless. One key recommendation is to specify in the rule of the game of the workshop that it is to the team to act for improving the process not looking elsewhere.

Modern methods of management such as agile helps to get adequate involvement and enthousiasm of the stakeholders. Open minf=d organization is also a success factor. Management should be open enough for listen to stakeholder feedback.
