It depends on the type of research carried out. Some types of research impose a distanced perspective. However, in any types of research there is always a part of ourselves and we cannot ignore that as it is also what makes us choose the research path we undertake. It is, in my opinion, a question of finding the right balance between your own motivation and individuality in your research and what the literature says about your topic and the shaping of your analysis.
