1 Why use a control group?

Control group ensures that effect are only due to the substance under study. Any other factors doesn't have contributed to the effect on the treatment. There are many factors that can contribute to the over all effect of the treatment like psychological factors, diet and underlying disease. Therefore control group is used to validate the research methods as control group has undergone the same procedure and psychological stress as of test group.

2 How to choose a control group?
