Using outdated network adapter drivers can pose several risks, including: 1- Increased Risk of Cyberattacks: It may lack essential security patches and updates, making them vulnerable to cyber attacks and data breaches. 2- Internet connectivity/speed: Outdated drivers may not be able to effectively communicate with your devices, resulting in sluggish internet 3-Incompatibillity Issues: Not compatible with modern devices 4- Data Corruption: It can cause data corruption or loss (e.g. transferring large files/cloud storage services) 5- Vulnerable to Malware: leave your device vulnerable to malware and viruses (Compromise personal/professional data)

Vulnerabilities though to a lesser extent and performance issues are the more common problems associated with outdated NIC drivers. I learned that from a personal experience with a home Windows server. Which was running quite well until I disabled my AV in order to install software that was blocked. Shortly thereafter, the server came to a crawl. While I recovered after a scan for days and removing thousands of infected files, the server was slow. I could no longer transfer any files larger than couple hundred kb, mostly text documents. I ran a packet tracer and among other errors, there were numerous crc errors. As soon as I updated the NIC drivers, those errors disappeared, and the server was once again firing on all 12 cylinders!
