What resilience tools can help startups survive a crisis?

I can tell what not to do: don't use the tools consultants sell to large corporations such as scenario planning, swot analysis, and so on. Instead focus on your killer advantage: speed. In crisis situations, the #firstmover advantage legitimately reigns supreme. Bogging yourself down with fancy frameworks suited for extended analysis in corporate boardrooms is neutering your own strength. You can even do this with "startup" tools - avoid analysis paralysis. Get the key decision makers together, exercise critical thinking and triage analysis, be decisive and make the plan happen with the quickness.

I'm not convinced that tools like "resilience assessments" help startups be resilient. I believe two things make a startup resilient. 1. Cash and the ability to generate it via day to day operation of the business 2. Clarity of mission, with the ability to switch paths and plans while keeping the mission in mind. Of you have co-founders, everyone should be in agreement on what the mission is, and use the same "10 words or less" answer when asked "what is the mission?". A person with a strong "Why" can endure any "How". In business the one caveat to that is, you need cash.

Focus on the customer experience. What problems of the customer are you trying to solve . Understanding your customers needs and the customer experience, journey mapping and impact analysis are such important considerations for resilience yet I don’t see many startups focused on that.

Startups can enhance resilience with crisis management tools. Cash Flow Forecasting provides financial visibility, aiding decision-making. Scenario Planning helps anticipate challenges and plan responses. Diversification Strategies reduce dependency on a single revenue stream.
