From a student's perspective, a QMS translates to consistent quality in the products or services that is received by customers or consumers. This means the organization prioritizes meeting their needs and expectations. In my Project Quality class in Northeastern university, we learnt about continuous improvement. Improving Quality is the foundational principle of a QMS and a Quality Improvement Plan is the plan or roadmap to achieve continuous and continual improvement of Quality. I think it was Deming or another Quality pioneer that once said "if you're not striving to improve, then you likely not even sustain your current performance ". Another pearl of wisdom is that "if you fail to plan, then you plan to fail". It can be as simple as using a PDCA methodology or a comprehensive collaborative Quality improvement strategy and plan.

Quality Improvement plan starts with the process we have adopted to complete an activity. There could be multiple ways of doing an activity. The one which takes minimum time, resource and cost without deviating from the specification is what is required to be adopted. QMS can be instrumental in successfully leading to the goal by developing a framework for Excellence. The robust review of the set process keeping an eye on the outcome in terms of cost of Quality, just in time concept and optimised resource will help gain the desired Quality. Proper plan, strict implementation of plan and review of the outcomes will help in developing QIP. Document in line with PDCA and enjoy the results.

If you are measuring, trending any performance against a particular requirement or a standard you definitely are aware of the direction in which the process is moving. You know or you can investigate the reasons of positive or negative outcomes and act accordingly! Process trends, nonconformance, customer complaints, effectiveness of the corrective actions are few indicators which help you to determine the health of your QMS and take appropriate actions on the path of continual improvement.

Wenn man sich speziell die ISO 9001 mal in verst?ndliche Sprache übersetzt, heisst es darin: ?Schreibe auf was getan werden soll, setze es um, überprüfe ob das Aufgeschriebene und die Umsetzung stimmen und korrigiere.“ wenn man auf dieser Ebene bleibt und sich die Unternehmen anschaut, findet man meist gute Prozesse. Die, die nicht funktionieren sind ebenfalls schnell identifiziert. Damit ist man dann auch schon schnell im Prozess. Die kontinuierliche Verbesserung setzt quasi automatisch ein, weil die Dokumente anfangen zu leben. Es ist gerade bei den kleinen soviel an Aufkl?rung notwendig!
