What quality control measures can you use to improve industrial processes and products?

We can all agree that QC comes after a number of steps have taken place and that makes it difficult to have a total control especially to those QCs in the upstream. Coz if something goes wrong especially in some products IT may be hard to control or it could lead to huge losses. From what I have learned over the years is, as QCs ,ensure you stick to what procedures state in all the steps of processes. Control of raw materials ,verification of raw materials during production,intermediate products,verification of vessels in terms of state of cleanliness and ensuring process steps are followed is what works out well coz you don't give the entire process chain a loophole unless it's a special case. Due diligence is all what matters.

Input control is much more important than output inspection. I find when the sooner I'm involved in a project or process, the more I can build and understand how to "regulate" quality into the process.

By continuously evaluating and refining processes, PDCA serves as a robust tool for maintaining consistent quality benchmarks.

Lean Manufacturing: Adopt lean principles to eliminate waste, optimize processes, and reduce production costs, while maintaining or improving quality.

Implementing statistical process control (SPC) can enhance industrial processes by monitoring and controlling variations. Utilize methods like Six Sigma for defect reduction, conduct regular audits, and employ Total Quality Management (TQM) principles for continuous improvement. Additionally, adopting advanced technologies like sensors and automation can enhance precision and reduce errors in manufacturing. Regular training programs for employees also contribute to maintaining high-quality standards.

How can we easily identified what processes and resources does not add value to organisation? How can we identify the inefficiencies, bottlenecks or repetition? The answer is Value Stream Mapping. It is easy to locate the issue using visual presentation, and the use of Value Stream mapping is essential. It provides a map from customer demand to product until delivery. By analysing the map you can easily identify the non value activities, which are prime source of waste that can be targeted for improvement.
