Fishbone or Ishikawa diagrams are schematic drawings that identify possible root causes for defects or concerns. Also could be used as risk indentification tool Each cause context (e.g., manpower, machinery, methods, materials, measurement, mother nature) known as 6M and may be 7M if we add the management context Each context is drawn as the ribs on the skeleton of a fish, giving the charts the alternative name fishbone diagram. By allowing managers to quickly narrow down the root cause(s) for various issues, they can be quickly addressed, However, the relative magnitude or importance of an issue is left unknown in an Ishikawa diagram, and its interpretation open to subjectivity and discussion or using for additional QA tool

3 Control Chart

A control chart is a tool that helps you monitor the performance and variation of a process or a product over time. It consists of a line graph that shows the data points collected from the process or product, and upper and lower control limits that indicate the acceptable range of variation. Lastly, acting involves implementing corrective actions, standardizing best practices, and reviewing the process. By utilizing a PDCA cycle, you can enhance your operational planning by learning from experiences, adapting to changing conditions, and achieving goals more effectively and efficiently.

The handling of the performance evaluation results is the core of the Deming cycle/wheel, (PDCA) or ( PDSA) P : Plan D : DO C : Check S: Study A : Act in which, the idea to keep tbe cycle goes on is the ( check, study) part That provides the bases of correction, act proactively, improvemnt, and as mentioned Celebrating the achievement, Then start the wheel again and again, (plan, Do, check, Act)

The key to the utilization of the tools is communication with the stake holders, how will it benefit them in order to truly evaluate their existing processes that may in fact not be visible to them.

The article proposes that one tool is better than another for quality of operational planning. This is risky because they are all proven in the right setting and therefore to force the use of one may be counterproductive. Just as leaders need to adapt to the situation then you need to choose the right tool or adapt one. Do you have a priority for qualitative or quantitative data for example; how flexible are your financial controls; what’s the agreed process for change requests or configuration management. However, I think there is one thing above all that influences the quality of operational planning and that is the level of buy in from the people directly involved. This is key to success. Listen very carefully to your critics too.
