The key ones that I have come across are: Hackaday Prize MyMiniFactory Contests Pinshape Contests Instructables Contests Ultimaker Pioneer Program GrabCAD Challenges Shapeways Contests TinkerCAD Challenges I think the best path is to seek internships in organizations that are designing new business and design models based entirely on 3D Printing and participate in real projects. Such experience would provide anyone trying to enter this field, the best exposure to what is possible.
