What are the most innovative ways to engage your audience during a presentation?

I like when Virtual reality (VR) is incorporated, offering immersive experiences. You can add interactive elements, 3D visuals, and simulations to make what you are presenting more dynamic. Your audience can participate through Q&A sessions or collaborative activities you create in the space to make the presentation more captivating and engaging.

As a game show host, I only create presentations that involve interaction. Currently, I work with clients that want to bring up an on-the-spot survey to get the "temperature of the room" and figure out who my active people are who WANT to be there and encourage those who might be on the fence. As a tip, just do something as simple as "take a deep breath (wait) and let it out!" or "Everyone, please stand up and wave to me! - I promise that I'll wave back!" Doesn't matter WHAT you do as long as it feels right with your presentation.

"To thine own self be true..." Tools are fine, but the treasure of any presentation begins and ends with your own conviction and enthusiasm for your message and content. No amount of training or subtle skill will compare to a speaker's message that burns inside them. If you feel it strongly enough, if you have gone over it so many times that it is a building block of who you are, those in attendance will be moved more by the passion than by the specific words.

Gamifying the presentation gets people involved and makes them want to pay attention. make them a part of the story and the solution.

I remember a presentation where, to break the ice, I started with an anecdote about a common workplace situation: "Have you ever had a Monday where everything seems to go wrong? Well, imagine mine when I arrived at the office and realized I'd left my laptop at home." The audience laughed and relaxed, making the atmosphere more friendly and receptive. Throughout the presentation, I interspersed humorous comments and lighthearted examples, which helped maintain interest and made the information more accessible and memorable.

Customizing your presentation to your specific audience is absolutely critical for engagement. Even small tweaks like using examples they relate to help immensely. Before big presentations, I always try to gather intel on who my audience is and what matters to them. This lets me shape my content accordingly. Customization shows you did your homework on who you're presenting to. It makes the audience feel valued and like you respect their time. Overall, it leads to higher engagement levels and a stronger connection with the material. While it requires effort upfront, customizing your presentation ultimately pays off by ensuring your message resonates with those who need to hear it. It's worth investing time to make it feel specialized.

Allow your audience to visualize and embrace your presence, and not only limited to the stage, and for you that you don't have to walk out the stage, but you have to expand your scope, reaching the audience. You can address your audience, by pointing to them, (with an open-palm gesture; NOT finger-point), and let them follow you voice, by making them attentive and engaged throughout. Tell a story - by not just "telling" - "Show" them, by carrying out your emotions and expressions. You can build an ambience, and make your audience a part of your story. (They will not only listen but experience your story by themselves) Play with your voice, and play with your body-language, to communicate your presentation, to give them something "new".

My presentations were usually focused on product demos, but I always began by sharing an outline of what I planned to cover.
