"Broken", or rather unstructured, grids allow new kinds of composition. As deconstructivism did for architecture, using unstructured grids allows graphic design to take a more exploratory and experimental approach, and to alternate between text and image in a more dynamic way. However, this type of grid is one of the most complicated to master, as it opens up an enormous range of possibilities and is often seen as a strong choice.
