Showing up in an interview without preparation is one of the worst things one could do and regret later. When preparing for an interview, make sure you research about the role, job description, expectations, must-have skills along with good-to-have skills, and about the team structure (if provided in the job description). It will help with boosting your confidence which will eventually help you in answering the interview questions diligently.

For any question, there is an expected answer. So, give the correct answer. In case you do not know the answer, admit and avoid giving an incorrect answer. Try to keep the answer simple and speak in laymen terms. In essence, do not overcomplicate. If you don't fully understand a question, it's important to ask for clarification before providing an answer. Software development is a collaborative effort. Emphasize your ability to work well in a team and adapt to changing requirements. An interview is an opportunity to showcase your skills, expertise, and enthusiasm. By avoiding some of common mistakes, you can present yourself as a strong candidate.

An interview is more of a discussion between two future colleagues than just a quiz or an exam which you have to appear. Many of the interviewers aren't only looking for just the technical staff but also the staff they would like to work with or share moments with. One thing that most of the candidates ignore is that it's also your personality test where the recruiter/interviewer may be checking the cultural fit of yours in their organisation. When you're asked about what you like to do that's not in your resume, be honest and discuss your hobbies, likes, interests, etc. Many of us prefer someone who would enjoy their work over someone who sticks to 9-5 as a job. So be aware of it and answer such questions honestly.

I want to add that during the interview if the interviewer gives you a question to solve and you are not able to understand do ask interview again and again don't hesitate to ask questions and start solving your question when the question is clear to you because if you don't understand the question and you solve the question at last the outcome of the question is not acceptable and the time is also gone better to ask question before jumping on the solution.

I would also add here to come prepared with your own questions for the interviewer. Curate a list of topics and questions for each interviewer or round of interviews. For instance, you’d ask different questions of fellow developers than you would a leader. Be sure to have a solid list, as an interviewer may address some of your questions over the course of the interview and you’ll want to have some additional material to use at the end. The more context you can have for your questions - based on your personal research of the company - will help to show your level of preparedness for the conversation.

Don't be defensive, evasive or untruthful. Part of the process is meant to stress test you around your weak points. We all have them, accept it and acknowledge your limits; this will give you credibility when you talk about your strengths and accomplishments.
