What are the most important skills to develop as a technical support engineer?

As per my personal and professional experience the most #important skill for a #technical #support #engineer is to have #empathy towards #customer, strong #knowledge of the product or service you are offering or supporting and problem solving skill. Effective, Crisp, clear and concise communication is addon to the Primary skillset. Executive should be good listener because if you don't listen properly you cannot provide robust solution.

D'après mon expérience, pour un ingénieur commercial la connaissance de son produit est primordiale afin de mieux le vendre, il faut connaitre le secteur d'activités et identifier les véritables prospects. Privilégier aussi le contact direct, aller à la rencontre des clients par prise de rendez-vous. Avoir de l'empathie et bien préparer ses offres pour avoir une marge de manoeuvre pour les négociations et au déla de tout il doit etre responsabilisé. Il doit etre aussi curieux, connaitre le marché et ses évolutions et s'adapter en conséquences.

Both selling technical and customer technical spend a lot of time and money on projects, without offering the financial benefits, if there are any. Effective communication skills are a key to success in this role. Responding to customers and internal team members in a timely manner helps foster a certain level of respect. Naturally, you will become a better communicator with practice.

As an process engineer, you should be pioneered with engineering calculations, process design , detail engineering process safety. Secondly he should also understand the process thoroughly before designing a plant. Last but not the list will be margin improvements which means business

I'm not the greatest problem solver (thanks @HacktheBox) but I've learned that, like a new language, we can learn to adapt to frameworks in the same way. While we may not immediately develop the ability to write academic papers, we can quickly recognize major patterns and important functions. Go from there and where possible, develop and test hypotheses until you better understand the malfunctioning process!

Customer is king as they say, listen to what they have to say even if they are ranting. You have to understand that it could be a small issue to us as the support engineer but their business might be on stop. We have to give the customer/individual/end-user the confidence that we know our stuff and that we will endeavour to fix the issue or formulate a resolution quickly. The end goal for any support engineer is to fix the issue and give the customer satisfaction they have been heard, issues addressed and they are back up and running.

Patience: Remain calm and patient, especially when dealing with frustrated or upset customers. Customer-Focused Attitude: Prioritize customer satisfaction and ensure a positive customer experience. Timeliness: Respond promptly to customer inquiries and work efficiently to resolve issues.

Normally customers’ claims are related to discrepancies in quality or quality of your products. Therefore, as a sales engineer, you should have in place all necessary requirements to assure meeting the agreed standards, quality and quantity with your customers. If for any reason your product did not meet the agreed specifications, then you have to investigate and recommend corrective actions to resolve any discovered problems.

My opinion based on 10+ years experience in customer service: In support services, customers/clients/end users are at the core to find the best possible solution and building a valuable relationship. It is very important to understand the situation and to communicate frequently (find an agreement which suits both parties best), on eye level and with empathy and openness to receive feedback in all forms. Even though situations can be challenging, it is the opportunity to learn and improve. Sharing lessons learned and gained knowledge builds trust and a better understanding.

En el mundo de la tecnología nadie tiene el conocimiento absoluto, tener una buena relación con los colegas, conocer y aprovechar sus experiencias y habilidades para aportar en la soluciones es la forma mas eficaz para la solución de incidentes y brindar una mejor experiencia de servicio, cuando los clientes entienden que no depende de una sola persona si no que los apoya un equipo de trabajo la confianza es mucho mayor.

Team work is not only internal team work to find and solve the problems , but also to get the customer to be a part of risk and process! If the relationships are not close , creating a team in short time would be challenging. For example : you need your R&D and production and sales to rake part in solving the problem but at the same time if the customer maintenance or project staff does not agree to your solutions , then it might end in claims or courts!

Technical support engineer should participate in development of standards and operating and testing procedures to insure proper handling of all systems and equipment by field personnel. This will minimise frequent failures.

Teamwork is vital for technical support engineers to achieve collective objectives. Sharing information, effective communication, and mutual support are essential. Respecting diversity, providing and receiving feedback, and resolving conflicts constructively are key. Strengthen teamwork skills through active participation in team endeavors, fostering trust, and acknowledging team members' contributions.

Sense of urgency. Attention to detail, strong work ethic as well as experience is the common denominator. Make your customers your friends, be honest and communicate concisely and directly is equally important. Bringing donuts to problem doesn’t help!

One of the most important skills you can develop is the ability to determine what, of the oceans of information available out there, is of any use whatsoever. Just because it has been posted doesn't mean that it has gone through any vetting process, review, approval, or even verification. People can type almost anything, and random information or proposed solutions can be harmful if implemented without knowing the source. For example, these articles by supposed experts - no one reads them for accuracy, usefulness, or technical correctness. In general, the information you see on LinkedIn posts in areas such as this, or on your feed, is worthless unless you *know* you are able to trust your source. I have seen such bad information here.

There are two essential qualities that a person who is dedicated to technical support must have. Empathy. Communication ability. If you do not know how to put yourself in your client's shoes (external or internal), empathize with him and understand his problems, and you are not able to transmit your knowledge... it will be very difficult for you to do your job well.
