3. Continuing Education and Professional Development - I've always found continuing education fascinating from the time I worked at the Johannesburg Child Welfare Society. Most of my colleagues at the NGO weren't keen to attend in-service training, but I cherished the opportunity to learn and grow. Colleagues told me they were too absorbed with their heavy caseloads and writing statutory reports to give their full attention to the in-service training offered by the NGO. My mini-thesis for my Honours degree at Wits was on the topic of in-service training and the educational side of social work practice has always been one of my passions. I have attended talks, conferences and case discussions, but also given CPD workshops for my peers.
