While alignment of the IT strategy with the overall business goals and objectives is one of the most important function of an IT manager, the IT manager also needs to put in mind that the corporate culture, in the entire organization or within the IT department, would determine the success or failure of these strategies. So the IT manager would need to identify aspects of the corporate culture that needs to change or be enhanced. And he needs to be able to nudge the corporate culture towards that intended change.

Never underestimate the company culture. There is a lot that goes into reading between the lines of online content, mission statements, reviews, and other information, but an effective IT Management interviewee must learn what they can and be able to adjust fire in the interview. It's not that difficult to do your homework and learn a few details about a technology stack. In dealing with strategic alignment of IT, you absolutely must do the legwork, and this work itself will become a self-attesting means of your ability to recognize and align overall strategy. The first step to strategic thinking is to understand the organization and its vision for the future. KPIs, tactical plans, and all the rest come with time.
