I tend to prefer to get feedback from people who will have no problem telling me what doesn't work, and I am usually not interested in compliments. It is great to get positive feedback and confirm what is doing well, but those are the "easy" part - and you likely already know that. Is those not so great parts that can benefit more from critique. Those are hard to swallow, specially when you know that by agreeing to it, you will have to change or redo parts of your work, sometimes even the ones that are working. But is better to have the opportunity to adjust the course before you put your work out there.

I have a One in Ten rule when I listen to feedback. If one person tells me they don't like something about a film or a script, I listen, but don't give any particular weight to what they say. If I hear the same note from ten people, then there is an issue to address. This might mean I've done something confusing or wrong. The issue needs to be fixed. On the other hand, it might mean that I've made a choice that is unexpected, uncommon, or unheard of before. Does it really need fixing? Or is this something that I want to artistically stand behind? There's -something- here. It's up to me to decide what to do next.

Your ultimate objective is to take the project to the next level, and time and budget constraints won't wait for you to recover from feeling down or overconfident. Although disapproved feedback can feel like an attack on your decisions or sensitivity, it's crucial to remind yourself not to persist in your pride. Instead, focus on improving your craft and figuring out how to make the project better. By doing so, you'll start to understand how to deal with all types of feedback and utilize them to enhance your project to the next level.
