1 The meaning of job satisfaction

Job satisfaction is a psychological state that reflects how you feel about your job and its various aspects, such as tasks, goals, rewards, relationships, and environment. Job satisfaction is influenced by both internal and external factors, such as your personality, values, expectations, motivation, skills, feedback, autonomy, recognition, support, culture, and ethics. Job satisfaction is important because it affects your performance, well-being, commitment, and retention in your organization.

2 The most important factor for job satisfaction

While there are many factors that can contribute to your job satisfaction, research has consistently shown that one factor stands out as the most important: the perceived fit between your personal and professional values and the values of your organization and its mission. This is also known as person-organization fit or value congruence. When you share the same values as your organization, you are more likely to identify with its goals, feel motivated and engaged, trust and respect your leaders and colleagues, and experience a sense of belonging and pride in your work.

In my experience, when I started my career, soon I was reassigned to the newly established nutraceutical plant. There I got the opportunity to work under the direct supervision of the plant director. Every day I was learning something new by facing different challenges. In a very short period, I was one of the members to discuss the audits and its outcome. I was lucky enough to learn and share my ideas with the top management. I believe giving a chance to speak our minds and learn from the seniors is the essence of job satisfaction.

My view is that the most important factor for job satisfaction in public administration is the managers' capacity to guarantee the perception by the teams of the link between their daily work and the fulfilling of general interest objectives. This management through the meaning is a matter in every organization, private or public, but can be more complicated in some public administrations because of complexity of policies and delivery models, that can tend to make as a challenge the perception of the link between daily missions and the general interest. Moreover, it's also very appropriate that working conditions in the public sector reflect the values of the policies implemented by its administration.

Inclure les agents complètement dans les projets. Les élus ont tendances à ne discuter Qu'entre eux, mais les agents ont beaucoup de plus techniques à apporter. Il faut savoir se reposer sur eux et leur faire confiance sur leur impartialité.

Aus meiner Erfahrung ist eine sinnstiftende T?tigkeit etwas, im Zusammenhang mit den eigenen pers?nlichen Kompetenzen, was die h?chste Form der Arbeitszufriedenheit darstellt. 'Der richtige Mann bzw. die richtige Frau am richtigen Ort' um es auf den Punkt zu bringen. Zudem ist besonders in der Verwaltung der Dienstleistungsgedanke etwas, welcher unbedingt pr?sent sein sollte, mit ganz oben anzusiedeln, wenn man über Arbeitszufriedenheit spricht. Man dient in erster Linie dem Bürger, den Mitarbeitenden je nach Auftrag der Verwaltungseinheit.

Ich denke ein wesentlicher Faktor für die Arbeitszufriedenheit ist das krisensichere Einkommen u. die krisensichere Arbeit . Dieses hat sich ja z.B. auch in der Corona-Krise deutlich gezeigt. Vielen Arbeitskr?ften ist hier vielleicht erst richtig bewusst geworden , was es hei?t, unabh?ngig von besonderer Leistungerbringung sein Gehalt u. die Arbeit vollst?ndig zu erhalten, w?hrend in der freien Wirtschaft etliche in die Kurzarbeit/Entlassungen gehen mussten. Einen anderen Motivator stellt sicher auch der Dienst für seine Stadt, Kommune bzw. sein Land dar. Gem?? meinen Beobachtungen ist dieser aber stark rückl?ufig. Da zum Teil schlechte Führung, eine viel zu gro?e Parteien- u. Gewerkschaftslobby die sinnvolle Zusammenarbeit erschwert.

I always emphasize that if a company does much hard work to find the best candidate, why don't the candidates do the same? They should start researching the values of that company. Even if they fail to do so and join the company without any research work being done, the next thing is learning and development which can help in the development and agreement between the value of the employee and the company.
