It is critical at this time to gain AI skills. That includes beginning to use AI (such as ChatGBT) as a starting point for your projects. While no one thinks you can (or should) use AI to do your work, it is critical to start to gain an understanding of how AI can be used as a seed to start your process. When handling a problem, try finding several solutions that can work. This can give you options and alternatives if one solution does not work out the way you originally plan. Be sure to create a corresponding goal to help you measure the success of each solution.The normal techniques that I use is the brainstorming on my notebook.

Absolutely, all these steps are foundational for creative problem-solving. However, one vital step I believe is often overlooked is "Embrace Ambiguity." Embracing ambiguity is a key but often overlooked step in problem-solving. In a complex world, problems aren't clear-cut, so being okay with uncertainty is vital. This means being open to different views and not needing all the answers right away. Dealing with ambiguity sparks creativity. It lets us explore various paths and try new solutions. By doing this, we become more adaptable and resilient. Think of it as the link between exploring ideas and choosing the best ones. Embracing ambiguity pushes us to think differently and find great solutions in uncertain situations.

In evaluating options, one has to be able to consider and manage trade-offs. This is becoming increasingly complex given how the world is evolving nowadays. In addition to critical and analytical thinking, one also has to develop agile thinking. This overall philosophy focuses responding to change, continuous adapting rather than rigidly following pre-determined steps.

In my experience most failures come in the implementation phase. Being resilient and flexible is the key. This is the hardest part and where the value added really is!

Implementation of solutions becomes more difficult when the people responsible for it lacks self-knowledge (especially on the psychological front), underestimate the situation and unable to manage the under-currents of the situation. To successfully implement the solution, one has to develop mental toughness to deal with mounting pressures and uncertainties; wisdom to appreciate the subtleties (intangible elements) of the situation; and the agility to manage the under-currents that are constantly and consistently roughing up the situation.

Possibilities were explored, options were evaluated and the chosen solution was implemented.. and it's not working. Now what? We need to understand what part of the solution is not working, or if the whole solution itself is an issue, and adapt accordingly, and quickly. We must avoid committing sunk cost fallacy at all costs - Sticking to the solution that doesn't work, just because of the time and money invested in it will only increase the time it takes to resolve the issue, and the cost involved.

I love this part the most! I know I have learned so much in my past endeavours in solving problems. Those ventures have shaped me into becoming more respectful of the situation, to know myself so much deeper and harness my courage to manage bigger and more complex problems. Hence, it's so crucial to allocate time and space to learn from each problem-solving experience. In those moments, I'd form guardrails to guide my thinking, put up flags to remind me to pay attention to certain aspects of the problem-solving process, and develop practices based on the lessons learned. After every iteration, I approach problem-solving differently - from defining problem to implementing the solution!

There is no such thing as perfection and so there's (at the very least) something to learn from for next time. Or more usually, something that needs to be improved now.

Try to place yourself in a situation where you cannot back up, just like on the exam at the university, you pick up your card you have to answer. Same with skill building, place yourself in the situation where you need to solve the problem and start figuring out how you can do it. Real-time example for me, I decided to learn how to maintain my car, had no idea previously how to do it correctly, but after viewing a few videos I thought that now I am a certified YouTube mechanic :). Changing the timing belt on video is relatively easy, doing it by yourself is a different story and one broken bold away from becoming a three-day ordeal. Apply any knowledge to practice, this is the only way to develop your skills.
