Before the advent of the technology, when people used to travel overseas, Concierge used to be the eyes of the guest through which they see the city / country! However, things have changed drastically with so much of technology at our hands and our mobile phones has become the tech powerhouses. However, still, concierge in today's world help many guests across the world to find local attractions, book local transfers or get a taxi arranged for pick / drop or a city tour. In my previous experiences working with Concierge people, I have always made them the secret finders! The Concierge teams get more personalized information as they tend to suggest various things based on the taste and likings of the customers. It makes more sense for them to maintain the preferences and guest profiling by updating what the guest looks for. This will not only help the Front Office Operations team to provide the services accordingly but also help the F&B Teams to offer them similar offerings when the guest calls up the room service or may be dine at a restaurant!

A concierge is essential in managing emergencies like medical issues, accidents, or natural disasters during a guest's stay. They must remain calm, professional, and resourceful, assisting with actions like summoning help, liaising with authorities, arranging alternate accommodations, or offering emotional support. Additionally, concierges are responsible for reporting incidents to hotel management and adhering to established protocols and procedures.

Considering the moment a guest arrives in a hotel, post checkin it's concierge who escort the guest to their room and book the travel reservations and guests actually reach out to concierge to know about the place and recommendations. It's this time a concierge team member has to ensure they are extremely transparent about the information they share with the guest and share the pros and cons as well because everybody's expectations are different. Also ensuring the guest has trusted them with their objective of their travel, it's their utmost responsibility to recognise the guests by their name so the guest feels welcome and special. Who doesn't like to be remembered!! It's these small gestures which pay back in a long time.

So for me all of the concierge tasks, and I do not want to go in the “most important tasks”, as to me they are all important.
