Practical Application is the only way to learn anything. You dont need to spend several years in university becoming a specialist. For me, I used a combination of the Swiss "cybernetics" platform, YouTube, and GitHub, and then practically applied what I learned in open-source projects frequently, I started learning ROS by doing projects.

Even though these are the tools, you have to remember that ROS is used extensively in academica and industry thus learning those nuances is essential. Engage in open-source projects frequently, start learning ROS by doing projects. It is not theory and it is a tool like software which you will get better only by practicing. Start from ROS2 as within few years it will be the standard than ROS.
