What are the most effective ways to use technology for goal setting and decision making?

An example I have seen is using AI as a tool. By entering specific parameters, AI can generate all the information that you could possibly want to give your client the best possible information.

Technology can be a useful tool, but it is important to not use it needlessly either. Utilising technology to communicate goals and decisions can create clearer objectives for a team and bring about many positives. The way in which this can be done most effectively is by applying the most suitable technology for the situation and audience. Simpler can be better at times, so it might be more worthwhile to use your existing suite of applications rather than trying something more complex and new, requiring training and various other costs.

With AI rapidly becoming more useable, I think we’re going to see more one-stop platforms and collaboration between apps and product suites. Google has really worked hard to develop a suite of products that will run alongside apps on one platform, from drafting a memo to running meetings to tracking projects. As AI becomes more robust, I really think we’re going to see Google race for leadership position. Microsoft always makes the technology list. Teams is a great option for small projects because it’s already included in Microsoft subscriptions and allows simplified collaboration and task tracking. Dedicated PMs managing multiple and large projects will hold onto their smart sheets, so expect that platform to grow. .

An example I've seen in Project Management are tools such as Basecamp, Jira, or Microsoft Project that can be used for setting SMART goals in a collaborative environment. These tools enable teams to break down larger goals into smaller tasks, assign responsibilities, track progress, and monitor deadlines.

With the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI), a lot of major changes are expected to occur across numerous industries. For example, AI-powered technologies like machine learning algorithms and predictive analytics can assist in decision making by analysing vast amounts of data and identifying patterns that humans might miss. AI can automate repetitive tasks, provide recommendations based on historical data, and simulate scenarios to predict outcomes. Furthermore, data analytics tools enable organizations to gather and analyze large amounts of data to make data-driven decisions. Examples of popular data analytics tools include Tableau, Google Analytics, and Microsoft Power BI.

With the rise of remote work and distributed teams, virtual collaboration tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Slack have become essential in involving every team member. These tools facilitate real-time communication, document sharing, and collaboration among team members regardless of their physical location.

On top of what the person is saying, I would also incorporate Google meet. It is also very helpful along with zoom, Microsoft team and slack.

Setting aside some me time is also very important. All the technology in the world is not going to benefit somebody if they're mental health is not in a safe place. I set aside me time so that I am not overwhelmed with every day Life and the stresses of technology and work itself.

Technology can be a solution to distractions and overload rather than the problem. Primarily, we need to be self-aware of when we are getting easily distracted or feeling overwhelmed in order to take the right steps to correct this as early as possible. I personally like to use a Pomodoro timer (working periods with small breaks) to consciously put some time aside for tasks or focus on mindfulness. By doing so, you can bring your attention back towards achieving your goals and feel more in control of your work. There are even some apps with timed screen locks if you want to remove the distraction of a device completely. For this to work best, it is also a good idea to reward yourself in a small way to celebrate achieving the micro-goal.

My view point for technology towards setting goals is below : 1. Use a Technology platform to bring everything at one place - in terms of setting the goal & building the roadmap. 2. Resource Management & Tracking progress - The most important part in achieving any goal is proper tracking of data & progress. Tech Platforms helps to record milestones & move forward. 3. Cross functional collaboration - A Tech platform helps in better cross functional collaboration, as it is necessary to work with diverse teams to achieve a goal. 4. Presentation & Decision Making - Presentations are as equally important as setting up a goal. Tech platforms help to present the progress & milestones achieved, which in turn help leaders make the Decisions.
