But it’s super helpful when applied to the procurement process. You can use it to compare the environmental impacts of different options and also help set the environmental requirements and specifications for your suppliers and contractors.

One not so obvious side effect of the prep work for the LCA, is that the bill of material can be used to predict climate-related risks linked to materials. Having the recipe for your products or systems will also provide valuable input for fire risk assessments and future costs as well.

With LCA someone who is familiar with the business and knows relevant processes, materials etc.of the respective kndustry, in addition to having LCA competence, can quickly and easily do LCAs for internal decision making purposes. As there won't be a need for extensive reports, a critical review etc. it can be an agile and still an eye-opening tool at an early stage of innovating new solutiins.

LCA is a very powerful tool and need to be properly made. This is however no more than a first steps which requires to be followed through with targeted and comprehensive actions plans, leveraging stakeholders, both internal and external (such as suppliers for instance)
