The pandemic and the move to virtual means that I have spoken at events from India to Germany and all points in between. Don't overlook international workshops - think UNEP and OECD - even if they are not in your language. Many now offer simultaneous translation to English - or at worst you can have access to the materials and translate them after the event.

I think this one needs to be at the top - the regulations and standards are the holy grail for understanding what will ultimately be required. A draft regulation shows us where the compliance trend is headed - but I know from 25 years experience that drafts often don't see the light of day. Always - always - find and read the regulation. You would be surprised how many folks base themselves on the review or the summary of a regulation. Get a hot coffee or tea and cozy up with the standards. It has been career-defining at times to be the expert on a particular regulation.
