While the INFORMATION_SCHEMA is part of the SQL standard, a lot of vendors also have their vendor specific versions of meta data tables or "dictionary views", for example SQL Server also has the sys schema, and PostgreSQL also has the pg_catalog schema. JDBC offers a unified way to access these schemas, via the DatabaseMetaData API. Other utilities, like jOOQ, have their own standardised, vendor independent access APIs for meta data.

In oracle database, you can use The DBMS_METADATA package which provides a way for you to retrieve metadata from the database dictionary as XML or creation DDL and to submit the XML to re-create the object, like table, tablespace or any other object already created in you database.
