What are the most effective ways to promote a culture of continuous improvement?

Something that's helped me to promote a culture of continuous improvement is to speak to the part of each person that longs for more. Almost everyone wants to be more, do more, have more. Therefore, talk to people about their dreams and goals. Find out what moves them. What are they willing to fight for? Once you know what motivates them, set some goals and some steps. Let them know that in order to become more than they are they will need to do more than they have. Set up those expectations. Prepare them for what's to come and you have a strong foundation where upon you can build a path to continuous self improvement.

Pour avoir des objectifs clairs, il faut impérativement que chacun comprenne à quoi sert l'amélioration continue, comment cela fonctionne et surtout quelle en sera la finalité. Les objectifs doivent être définis par la Direction, en se basant sur des "faits", du concret, des indicateurs bien canalisés.

A culture of continuous improvement is a culture of continuous individual and team development. Fundamental to the culture shift is leadership engagement and going to see where the work is done. When leaders go and see, their goal should be to solve one problem for their front line employees! One problem, every time to establish a culture of trust. If you solve one problem every time they know you care. As you go about doing this iteratively, you build your body of knowledge about how the system works, hypotheses about bigger team improvements that you test over time, that the whole team starts to understand. You see the whole process AND your people. This iterative process builds a culture of trust, learning, and CI.

Asking those with whom you're working with how they want you to keep them accountable is super helpful. Tell them how important it is for them that you can give them the information they need in order to know whether they are headed in the right direction or not. One of those ways is by being able to talk to them directly, no beating around the bush, about the progress you see or not see. Make sure you tell them that feedback isn't personal, it's simply an observation of the progress towards said goals. Agree ahead of time that you are able to provide feedback in order to avoid awkward situations and hurt feelings. Control the expectations from the beginning.

Feedback is an important tool for personal and professional development. According to Silvio Rogério Petrone, "Without feedback, we fly blind." Feedback helps identify opportunities for improvement, correct errors and promote people’s growth. However, some people may have difficulty dealing with feedback, either because they do not believe in the source of the feedback, because they are not confident enough to deal with criticism, or because they think that feedback is only used as an instrument of power. Despite this, feedback is essential for continuous improvement and performance management. Remember that continuous improvement is an ongoing process and requires commitment and dedication from everyone involved.

Showcase and celebrate examples: ideas or pain points that have been identified by business users and how the solution has had impact. Show how it was designed and implemented. I.e end to end process. From submission, requirements gathering, maybe a cocreated team coming together to develop, prototype and test. Transition to business as usual change management including affective communication and training (scaled as appropriate). Seeing examples large/small and how the process/journey works including the BAU transition. Hearing about staffs experience via retrospectives or change communication builds confidence in individuals and teams to identify their own ideas for continuous improvement. Effort v impact matrix to prioritise.

Encourage discussion..to also include failures..without repercussions...no need for everyone to learn mistakes first-hand..need to share ALL learnings

We use the 2 second lean method demonstrating that even the smallest changes can save us a lot of time in the long run, we also celebrate these on a weekly basis to motivate others to contribute.

Small changes are extremely necessary. If we don't change, we die. As in the story of the piano, you need to change it a little every day so that no one notices that there was a necessary change. There are things that only some people see and these people are fundamental in the company.

Même si les changements paraissent minimes, cela sera encourageant pour la suite, car ces petits changements peuvent en donner de grands suivant le contexte. Surtout ne pas mettre de c?té ces changements. Communiquer à l'ensemble de l'entreprise ce qui a été fait, tout est gratifiant.

Always lead by example! Change is hard and getting started with change is even harder. Be the light for others to follow and share what you've learned throughout your own improvement journey to give others a clearer place to start from.

When I took the Lean six Sigma Green/Black belt course, I was amazed at the different ways to make improvements and I also saw that this does not depend on the area of activity, because it is very comprehensive. But the most important thing of all is people, we need to work with people engaged in this "culture" activity. A strong and united team, no one can destabilize. And some tips are: 1.Define clear objectives. 2.Monitor and measure results. 3.Identify root causes of problems. 4.Implement appropriate solutions. 5. Evaluate the impacts of implemented solutions. 6.Standardize best practices in processes. 7.Encourage employee participation. 8. Invest in training and development. 9.Use technology to improve processes.
