I have worked with Avature, Workday, Taleo, Successfactors to name some, and have worked not only as a user, but as the Implementation lead, integration lead, level 2 support, reporting SME & more. All ATS have pros and cons, the important point is CUSTOMIZING IT to the way your would like to use it. Customize it, based on your process and users. Involve different stakeholders in customization discussion. Don't make it as a hassle for the users, it is for their benefit. TTest from all users perspective - candidates, recruiters, hiring managers, interviewers. Train the internal users, and hear them. If the internal users are happy, and involved that would use it, and you can create some audit dashboard and reporting is at your fingertips.
