What are the most effective ways to learn about our company before the interview?

If available, read the annual report! You don't need to absorb every financial detail, but the front end of an annual report is key to understanding company positioning and priorities.

Their future Business Plans Current Business Health Their P&L if published Size of the company Annual revenues Their product Business model USP Marketing Plan and Activities General reviews about their services Milestones Journey Achievements SWOT Analysis You should get maximum data to analyze and decide. You are going for a career path not only a job You can get details from Social media Blogs Annual publications Website If public then more through market Knowing is essential

1. Find 5 past employees from the same position at this company and read how they described their working experience on LinkedIn. 2. Connect with a couple of them and ask questions about their working experience there. 3. Find the hiring manager's LinkedIn and read about his background. 4. Do the same with the CEO. 5. Find info on their website, Instagram, YouTube, etc. 6. Read the job post and prepare answers to all questions.

Some places I always check, in addition to the company's website: - LinkedIn employees to see who the leadership team is and who my likely colleagues / team members would be - Glassdoor or similar HR site to see if other employees have rated the company positively or negatively - Crunchbase or other similar site to see what their fundraising path has been like - it will tell you a lot about what their growth strategy is

I consider the best way to know about the company and its culture is to connect with its current and past employees, preferably who worked in similar roles of you. Build a rapport with them and understand about the role, challenges, team and culture.

Social Media Sleuthing: Follow them on platforms like Instagram or LinkedIn. It's like getting a sneak peek into their daily life - you'll see how they talk to customers, their latest news, and even how they handle feedback.

Don't stop at following just the company. Follow the people in those departments and roles that your are interested; at the C-suite level and your own level. Always follow the CEO for instance to get their ideas of the internal and external world to the company they serve. Some people have been successful directly talking with the recruiting manager. Don't be pushy but perhaps go in with a good question or if you have heard nothing in responce to an application make a polite and enthusiastic inquiry.

Become a Blog Buff: If they have a blog or newsletter, soak it all in. It's like reading their diary - you get insights into their industry stance, expertise, and how they see the world.

Joining a new company is a BIG decision and you need all of the information available to make sure you're making the right one. Sure, it's great to ask questions during the interview process and hear what the company's employees have to say. But remember, they're trying to sell you on the opportunity. If it was me, I'd want to hear what FORMER employees think of the company. This is what we call Back Channel References: finding previous employees on LinkedIn and reaching out to ask them what they thought of the company, their colleagues, managers, leadership team, culture, etc. Fun fact: companies OFTEN do Back Channel References on candidates without them even knowing about it. Use all of the resources available to make the right decision.

Visiting the company website, going through the financial results, going through reviews and blogs is basic hygiene! Everyone applying will be doing that. Extra effort would really help you differentiate- From an E-commerce perspective I can talk about a couple of Hacks #Hack 1- Abandon Cart-Place and order-Return. Understand the entire notification and retention and see how you can tweak it. #Hack 2- Facebook/Tiktok Ads Library- Go through the content and prepare your feedback. #Hack 3- Semrush or Ubersuggest- Seo and traffic analysis, understand the demographics and the ranking keywords. #Hack 4- Competition Analysis- Identify strategies used and what we can learn from it. Dig deeper! Most people just scratch the surface.

So, go into that interview like a well-prepared explorer. You've mapped the terrain, now it's time to show them you're ready for the journey!

LinkedIn tells you a lot of information about the employees that have been a part of the company and when they've left. I've had people reach out to me asking to learn more about my experience at a past company, and I've always taken them up with an honest review

Whenever I prepare to meet a new company (be that a new client, job interview, or I'm just curious), one of the first things I always turn to are their latest financial statements. Plus, in the case of medium and large companies, they usually contain statements from the senior leadership about positives, negatives, and the future outlook. This almost always formulates my questions during the meeting by asking about highly relevant things their leaders are already discussing internally.
