You can leverage LinkedIn to find temporary jobs by doing a boolean search in the search engine bar. You can also directly identify recruiters and message or email them directly with your email once you have identified opportunities of interest.

The most effective ways are following: 1. Networking within professional circles and industry events. 2. Utilizing online job platforms and recruitment agencies. 3. Engaging with social media, especially LinkedIn. 4. Staying informed about industry trends and monitoring company websites.

As mentioned in my earlier contribution of this article, you can leverage LinkedIn to identify recruiters, decision-makers and people to connect with for referrals. Simply go to the "People" tab of the Company page (on LinkedIn). It allows you to search by location, expertise, school, keywords, and connection level. You can also use other social media platforms, moderation boards, and apps like Blind that allow you to directly request referrals (more specific to tech).

Upskilling and reskilling are highly underrated in the job search but they are a key part to strategy. This is regardless of if you are aiming to do the same job you did previously or do a new job in a new industry. When you join LinkedIn Premium, you have access to LinkedIn Learning and sometimes you can get a free trial of it before paying for it. The courses upon completion offer you badges and certificates that you can opt to share on your page. If you do not have access to LinkedIn Learning, I highly recommend YouTube University, Reddit, FB groups, go to your local library or ask people who are in the field you want to be in how to uplevel your knowledge in certain areas. If it is about reskilling, it ought to come a bit easier to you.

Sending a thoughtful and informative thank-you message goes a long way when an employer may be on the fence about your candidacy.
