What are the most effective ways to follow up after a business lunch?

Immediately after a business lunch, I send an email thank you and a summary of any actions/commitments I made during that meeting. If we are not already connected on social channels (LinkedIn) I will request to connect and include a note - ideally they have an article or have shared some thoughts on their profile and I can provide a thoughtful comment in my request to connect. Finally, I will send a hand written note to their office or address of record and include a Compendium Pop Open Card either themed with gratitude, leadership or inspiration depending on the tone of our meeting. From there, I work them into my touch point plan and remain engaged with them for the long term.

Taking action like this goes a long way in building an established relationship with your clients, because at the end of the day clients work will people they like, trust and know they can deliver to the highest standard.

Looked delicious.") and then mention a few salient points from the conversation. If there were any action items, I'd reference those and whether they're already done or when to expect completion. If a follow-up is appropriate, I'd include my calendar link to make it easy for the recipient. Use a postscript for any item you'd like to stand out, such as an invitation to a zoom webinar, newsletter, etc.

Those are the folks who I not only want to know but want to help--since they appreciate new information and are more likely to put it into action. Too often people try to be nice and continue conversations that should have been allowed to die of their own accord. If you maintain contact, be strategic, since your time is limited.

This is a crucial aspect that we should not overdo. The best approach is to understand more about them, focusing on minor personal details like birthdays, anniversaries, and achievements. This provides a window to reconnect in a meaningful way. We all appreciate being in the limelight and being noticed, as it makes us feel valued and respected. So, why not extend that courtesy to our clients? Going the extra mile can undoubtedly create a lasting relationship, offering long-term benefits.
