Attitude of the team member -A person who is fresh on the job and needs more supervision needs to be delegated with simpler tasks - A person whose skills levels are high, attitude is positive , can be delegated complex tasks - A person whose skill levels are high, but is negative and has does not have good intentions need not be delegated with important tasks. Key to successful delegation is also to check regulary with team members to provide guidance and support.

As a servant leader, the challenge lies in delegating tasks rather than taking them on personally. However, delegation not only fosters a life-work balance but also provides growth opportunities for your team. Identify employees ready for increased responsibility or promotion and trust them with delegated tasks. Communicate your support and schedule check-ins as needed. This empowers your team to see requests as opportunities as opposed to hindrances, encouraging them to seek additional tasks and gain exposure within the organization.

Each week review your "to-do" list and decide which tasks you can delegate. Decide who would be the best person to take on the task. It could be a direct report, colleague, and even your boss. Ideally the person you select will have the required knowledge and skills and the capacity (time available) to do the task.

Understand Your Team , know the strengths, weaknesses, and expertise of each team member to assign tasks effectively. Trust your team members to handle delegated tasks competently. Provide support and guidance when needed.

Set clear expectations , make sure you clearly communicate task objectives, timelines, and desired outcomes to avoid misunderstandings.

Did they enjoy the task, and would they enjoy opportunities like this in the future? Asking for feedback lets the team member know that you have their best interest in mind. Requesting feedback from your team also encourages them to do the same and keeps the environment open for improvement.
