What are the most effective ways to build team spirit among sales representatives?

Sales leaders need to focus more on celebrating the small wins each week with the sales team. Sales leaders need to remember that it is the small wins during the sales process, which lead to the big wins. Salespeople need encouragement and when you celebrate these successes, this provides the encouragement they need. As another person has pointed out it isn't just about the kpis and metrics, it is about celebrating the right behaviours and breakthroughs that your salespeople achieve. Make time during both your weekly sales meeting and also your 1:1s to focus on wins, sets the scene for success.

I personally think celebrating the small and big wins is essential. Most team spirit gets lots when only focussing on results. Unfortunately, in my early career as sales manager I focussed a way too heavy on the sales results and KPIs only. This frustrates the team and the whole team spirit is gone. I recommend the following to keep the team spirit up: 1. Share best practices - Schedule bi-weekly calls with the whole team where everyone shares what works, what doesn't and what needs improvement - In these calls you can also review sales meetings and exchange about certain tactics 2. And feel that there is a backend supporting them while they are with the customers. We have seen off-the-shelf solutions to help with that, but in niche industries, sometimes customized solutions might work out to be cheaper and more efficient. A call that has to be taken early on and resources assigned. With a good maintenance support. Ease of collaboration is important to foster collaboration in the long term.
